I have now officially seen all the Best Picture Oscar nominees for this year.

My favourite was True Grit, but I think The King’s Speech should (and will) take it.
Christian Bale was ridiculous in The Fighter. He deserves every damn award he wins for that performance.

Egypt.
I was born on October 6, 1981 - the exact day that Anwar El Sadat was assassinated Cairo. Hosni Mubarak has been the President of Egypt for the full span of my life, and Egypt has also been living under Emergency Law for that entire time.
I travelled to Egypt and Jordan in December 2008/January 2009 - during the Gaza War. My trip was barely affected by the conflict, but as a westerner the tension was palpable.
I can’t even begin to understand what Egyptians have experienced under this regime. All I know is that Egypt and its people are beautiful and they have my support, insignificant as it is.
I had no idea.
